Fear of money? Here’s how to overcome scarcity and attract abundance
Have you ever felt like no matter how much you try, money just doesn’t seem to flow into your life the way you want it to? Maybe you work hard, yet financial ease always feels out of reach. Or you want more money, but deep down, something holds you back—whether it’s guilt, fear, or limiting beliefs.
You're not alone. Most people don’t realise that their subconscious mind is running old scripts about money—scripts that tell them they don’t deserve it, that money is dangerous, or that success is too overwhelming to handle. But here’s the truth: until you rewrite those beliefs, no amount of external effort will bring true financial abundance.
So let’s uncover the hidden fears that might be blocking your financial flow and explore how you can shift from struggle to ease using biodecoding, nervous system regulation, and mindset shifts.
The hidden money blocks that keep you stuck
1. “I have to work hard to deserve money.”
If you feel like you need to do more, hustle harder, and prove your worth before receiving money, this is a classic overactive masculine energy pattern. It’s based on the belief that money must be “earned” through struggle rather than received with ease.
Why does this happen?
Childhood conditioning: You were praised for hard work, not for simply being you.
Generational beliefs: Your family may have struggled financially, so working hard became a survival mechanism.
Cultural programming: “Easy money” is often viewed as suspicious or undeserved.
Shift this belief by:
Practising feminine energy balance—learning to receive without guilt.
Letting go of the idea that effort alone determines worth.
Allowing money to come through unexpected and effortless ways (gifts, opportunities, passive income).
2. “Charging for my services feels shameful.”
If asking for money makes you uncomfortable, you might carry a guilt-based money block. Many people feel uneasy about charging for their work because they fear rejection or judgment.
Why does this happen?
Fear of being seen as “greedy” or “selfish.”
A belief that helping others should be free.
Childhood messages about not asking for too much.
Shift this belief by:
Reframing charging as an energy exchange—you give value, and money is simply the form of return.
Practising stating your prices with confidence.
Affirming: “I allow myself to receive for my gifts, and that benefits everyone.”
3. “Rich people are bad, so I don’t want to be like them.”
You say you want money, but deep down, you associate wealth with negative traits—corruption, greed, or dishonesty. If you believe that money makes people bad, your subconscious will never let you have it.
Why does this happen?
Media portrays wealthy people as villains.
Cultural narratives (especially in Latin America) paint rich vs. poor as a moral battle.
Fear of losing authenticity or connection with others.
Shift this belief by:
Seeking examples of wealthy people who are kind, generous, and ethical.
Understanding that money amplifies who you already are—it doesn’t change your core.
Affirming: “I can be wealthy and a good person at the same time.”
4. “Money causes family conflict, so it’s better to avoid it.”
If you grew up seeing family fights about money, your subconscious may associate wealth with pain, betrayal, or instability.
Why does this happen?
Witnessing divorce, inheritance disputes, or power struggles over money.
Learning that money creates distance between loved ones.
Subconsciously fearing that if you have money, relationships will suffer.
Shift this belief by:
Healing your personal relationship with money and defining it as a source of support, not stress.
Practising financial boundaries—having wealth doesn’t mean you have to rescue or please others.
Affirming: “I create a new experience with money—one of harmony and ease.”
5. “Having money is dangerous.”
This block is deeply ancestral and cultural. In some cultures, especially in places like Latin America, wealth has historically been associated with danger—conquerors stole resources, women with money were unsafe, and financial success could make you a target.
Why does this happen?
Ancestral trauma: Your lineage may have suffered losses due to wealth.
Collective fears: “More money, more problems” is ingrained in many societies.
Nervous system dysregulation: Large sums of money feel unfamiliar and unsafe.
Shift this belief by:
Regulating your nervous system—slowly acclimating to financial success.
Practising somatic exercises (see below).
Affirming: “Money is a safe and natural part of my life.”
How to reprogram your mind and body for abundance
Shifting your money mindset isn’t just about thinking differently—it’s about teaching your body to feel safe with wealth. Here are practical exercises to help:
Somatic practices for receiving money with ease
These exercises train your nervous system to feel comfortable with money:
Shaking off money fear – Stand up, shake your body, and release tension while saying, "I release old fears around money."
Counting money ritual – Count a stack of bills repeatedly to get used to the feeling of having money. Smell it, touch it, and let your subconscious absorb the sensation.
Infusing money with your energy – Put your favourite perfume on money to associate it with your essence. Money carries energy—make it yours.
Throwing money in the air – Playfully toss money and let it fall over you to rewire the idea that money flows effortlessly to you.
Holding larger amounts – Withdraw more cash than usual and keep it in your wallet to normalise having abundance.
Self-reflection exercise
Ask yourself:
What are my earliest memories about money?
How did my family talk about wealth?
Do I secretly feel unworthy of financial success?
If I received $1 million today, how would I truly feel?
Write your answers and notice any emotions that come up. These are clues to your deeper blocks.
